Budget and Moran/Tysons Tunnel

Budget

Tonight, beginning at 7 PM, at the Burke Library 9002 Burke Lake Road Burke, VA, two presentations will be given about the Fairfax County School Budget and the overall budget.  All are welcome to attend

Moran/Tysons Tunnel

The NLS/Raising Kaine podcast is up.  Jim Moran was interviewed and beginning at the 40 minute mark an interesting conversation occurred about the Tysons tunnel. You can hear the podcast here.  Skip to the 39:20 minute mark for the interesting part and listen for about 10 minutes.  Moran is very interesting and I agree with alot of what he says (well maybe not a monorail).

Specifically

1.  The silver line project is not cost effective

2.  A tunnel option would delay construction and put federal funding at risk due to the fact that the project would have to recompete, its not cost effective, and transit monies are being reduced

3.  Jim Moran is afraid to criticize the silver line because of people in Reston

One Response to “Budget and Moran/Tysons Tunnel”

  1. “A tunnel option would delay construction and put federal funding at risk due to the fact that the project would have to recompete”

But that is all patent, provable lies! There’s a contract offer to do the tunnel for less time and money from a private corporation assuming all the risk sitting in Governor Kaine’s Inbox. The FTA (federal funding authority) has said time and again that it doesn’t matter whether it’s a tunnel or an elevated railway–what matters is the cost effectiveness, which the tunnel option would enhance.

These politicians have some big brass ones to repeat these lies so often!!
